You can view all Web pages on this site without unknowingly disclosing any personal information. The League does not automatically log personal data nor does it link information automatically logged by other means with personal data about specific individuals. The League does not use cookies to store personal data.
The League uses cookies (see definition below) to enhance the user experience of the League’s website. These cookies are used to automatically log you into our forums and to check if you’ve previously viewed certain pages. These cookies do not, and cannot, provide the League with personal information about site visitors.
What Information We Collect
We collect the personal information that you may volunteer while using our electronic services, such as completing an online conference registration form, creating a user name and password for the site, or sending us email. We do not collect information about our visitors from other sources, such as public records or entities, or private organizations. We do not disclose your personal data to other organizations except as required by law or in situations involving threats to the physical safety of any person.
Information that we collect from the online registration forms includes:
- Name
- Title
- Institution
- Address
- Phone and fax numbers
- Email address
- Credit card number, expiration date, and the cardholder’s name
- Registration category (e.g., League Alliance member, League Board member, nonmember)
- Special needs
How Information Collected via the Web is Used
The personal information you provide about yourself when registering for a conference will only be used to complete your registration and only for that specific conference, except that a list of participant names, titles, institutions, addresses, and email addresses is available to exhibitors. No information is shared with other outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete the registration.
How to Remove Your Name from League Mailing Lists
To unsubscribe from the League emails you no longer wish to receive, please follow these steps.
- Log in to your League account.*
- In the ‘My Account’ dropdown at the top, right corner of the page, click on ‘Communication Preferences.’
- Click on the ‘Edit My Preferences’ button.
- Click on the box in the ‘Opt Out’ column for any type of e-communication you do not want to receive.
- Click on the ‘Save My Preferences’ button and give the system at least a few days to process your request.
*If you have forgotten your password, click on “Forgot Password” and enter the email address associated with your account.
Our Commitment to Data Security
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
Information obtained via online registration forms is encrypted, using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Technology. An SSL connection ensures privacy, authentication, and message integrity. The League website also uses an Equifax digital certificate. With Equifax and SSL Technology, information sent via the Internet is encrypted and authenticated to protect access to communications and transactions. URLs beginning with "https://" indicate that an SSL connection will be used.

If we do have personal data about you, we will provide you with a readable copy of this data at no charge. Definition of a Cookie
Cookies are small bits of information (no larger than 4k) stored as text on a computer hard drive. Cookies remain on the computer until removed when an expiration date is reached, the user uses the Web browser to remove the cookie, or the maximum of 100 cookies are stored on the computer and the oldest cookie is then automatically removed.
According to Cookies by Simon St. Laurent, "cookies cannot spread viruses, steal your personal information, read your hard drive, or empty your bank account surreptitiously."
